Then perhaps you should consider a reader ministry.

Liturgical Reader

Readers proclaim the Word of God and lead parishioners in the petitions at Mass in a faith-filled and prayerful manner. Proclamation of the Word is a special responsibility requiring both a love of Scripture and comfort speaking in public. Through proclamation, the assembly is able to be fed on the Word of God as they are fed on the Body and Blood.

It isn’t enough just to be a good reader. Readers must be strong proclaimers. We are not reading stories that took place thousands of years ago. We are proclaiming a living Word with applications for people today. The Word is alive. God is speaking to us.
