Bereavement Ministry

En español

Our bereavement team ministers to grieving members in our community who have lost a loved one. Helping others and accompanying them through their grief journey is a beautiful gift, requiring sensitivity, and joy in God’s call to minister to the pain and hopes of the grieving.

What do bereavement ministers at Blessed Trinity do?

·         Meet with the family to prepare the funeral Mass;

·         Prepare the church for the funeral Mass on the day of the funeral & assist the family at the funeral Mass;

·         Follow-up with loved ones of the immediate family for one year, through telephone calls, cards, and sometimes, visits.

Our bereavement ministers need additional assistance:

·         From adult parishioners who are willing to be trained to be Altar Servers for weekday morning funerals.

·         From adult parishioners willing to be trained to serve as sacristans for funerals, or willing to help bereavement ministers set up the church for funerals (on weekday mornings).

For more information about becoming a part of Blessed Trinity’s Bereavement ministry, call Deirdre Sweet in the parish office: 407-277-1702.

DIOCESAN TRAINING

Diocesan training prepares Bereavement Ministers for:

o        Grief care-giving

o        Preparing for a Catholic Funeral Mass, Vigil service and Rite of Committal

For those who stand in the mysterious privilege
of being called to comfort, there comes an understanding of Jesus’ beatitude:
“Blessed are those who mourn: they shall be comforted.”
(Matthew 5:4).
