Music Ministry

En español

         Hugh Bowen

      Director of Music

The music ministry offers many ways to participate in the liturgy through song and praise. Quality traditional and contemporary church music is programmed and arranged to inspire a worshipful response from the assembly.

The Music Ministry at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church offers a wide variety of musical experiences for parishioners of all ages and ability levels. We are constantly welcoming new members to our choirs and ensembles as they are the lifeblood of all ministries. Whether you are interested in the Children's Choir, the Adult Choir, or an Ensemble you can be sure that you will be joining people with whom you will share many wonderful moments making music and lively fellowship. For more information contact Hugh Bowen by phone at: 407-277-1702 Ext. 105 or by email at hbowen@blessedtrinityorlando.org

Cantors
Our cantors lead the assembly in song, sing as soloists, and also proclaim the Word through the Responsorial Psalm. They are scheduled as to their availability and mass preference and all sing voluntarily at our weekend and other regularly scheduled liturgies. Cantors also sing at weddings and funerals at Blessed Trinity, and are usually compensated for their service at these liturgies.

Choirs
The choirs enhance congregational singing with harmony and descants, in addition to performing choral music of all styles.

Instrumentalists
Instrumentalists at Blessed Trinity include guitarists, other string players, keyboardists, and also wind and percussion instrumentalists. Because of the demands of the repertoire, our instrumentalists are usually advanced high school, semi-professional or professional level performers. Like our cantors, they too are scheduled as to their availability and mass preference and perform voluntarily at our weekend and other regularly scheduled liturgies.

5:00 Saturday Ensemble

Our 5 PM Music Ministry currently meets at 4:15 PM in the Music Room to rehearse before the 5 PM mass. It is currently made up of women’s voices only, but men and instrumentalists are certainly welcome to join! 8:00am Sunday Ensemble

Our 8 AM Music Ministry currently meets around 7:15 AM in the Music Room to rehearse before the 8 AM mass. Its current makeup is 2 men, 1 woman and a very committed middle schooler. Other singers and instrumentalists able to brave the early hour are certainly encouraged to join!

10:00am Sunday Adult Choir

Our 10 AM Music Ministry currently meets Thursdays at 7 PM and at 9:15 AM on Sundays in the Music Room to rehearse in preparation for the 10 AM mass. Made up of men, women, and advanced middle and high school singers and instrumentalists, this choir helps the 10 AM mass come alive in celebrating the Rites of Christian Initiation of our young people and adults, and provides the backbone of Music Ministry for the special seasons of Christmas, Easter, and Holy Week in our church year. SATB choral literature is the core of this choir’s repertoire. Sight-singing is an advantage, but NOT REQUIRED!

Blessed Trinity Schola

This is a select vocal ensemble that leads the liturgies of Holy Week, Taizé Prayer, some Holy Days and other special times of the year. The Schola sings a capella much of the time. An audition and strong musical skills are needed.

Blessed Voices – our Children’s Choir

The Blessed Voices rehearse on Wednesdays, at 5 PM and 6:30 PM, on parallel tracks to our Elementary Religious Education classes. Made up currently of 1st-9th graders, this choir usually performs once a month at the 10 AM mass, and also sings annually at the Diocesan Children’s Choir Festival, which takes place at Holy Family CC this year on April 20, 2008.

Trinity Troupe – our Contemporary Choir

The Trinity Troupe meets on Sunday afternoons at 4:15 PM to rehearse before the 5 PM mass. Made up currently of talented youth and adult singers and instrumentalists, this spirited ensemble brings contemporary music alive to our final mass of the weekend. In recent years, members from this ensemble have been asked to perform at Diocesan workshops and community events that showcase best practices for music with a youth outreach.

12:00 Sunday Spanish Choir

Our Spanish Choir also meets on Thursdays at 7 PM in the Nursery (across from the Music Room). Made up currently of men and women singers and instrumentalists, this spirited ensemble brings music from the Hispanic culture alive at the Noon mass each Sunday. They are led by talented guitarist and singer, Rodney Lopez, who can be reached at: 407-376-5366 or email: rodneylo66@yahoo.com

Bells Choir

A beautiful component of musical liturgy at Blessed Trinity, bell choirs of both youth and adults are formed to help celebrate the more festive seasons of the church year, i.e. Christmas, Holy Week and Easter. So if you can't sing, but love music--particularly if you can read music--a bell choir may be just your cup of tea!
