Holy Baptism is the
basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and
the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through baptism we
are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God, we become members of
Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in his
mission: “Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the
word” (CCC 1213).
Infant baptisms
are celebrated during the weekend liturgies throughout the year. Do not
set a date for baptism until baptism catechesis has been completed.
For children five
years old or older and adults, baptism requires
the RCIA.
Catechesis/Preparation Schedule:
Parents are urged
to participate in Baptism Catechesis before the birth of the baby. The
date for Baptism cannot be set until Baptism Catechesis is completed.
